And a big part of that information is our music collection. It most probably occupies the biggest part of the SD card on our smartphone, and we would like to listen to it anywhere and anytime. And a part of our day where we would want to listen to our music is when we drive in our cars, going from place to place, but also in our home, when we like to plug in our smartphones to the audio system and start relaxing. There are a few options that work with your existing audio system, the old fashioned one, with just a few modifications. Of course, newer models of car stereos or home audio systems already have Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connectivity and can be connected to many devices such as smartphones and tablets. Depending on which device you want to connect your smartphone, there are a few options available. Newer models, sometimes called smart radios now have this feature integrated. From here, the process is very simple. Just turn on the Bluetooth in the car radio and search for it from your device.

I was pestering the guy at Pacific Stereo in the mall, begging to audition the Sansui AU amplifier and a pair of JBL L speakers that I was lusting after—and yes, the speakers had the orange grilles. Time to put up or shut up. Visitors to the TONE studio always take note of them off in the corner, and they always bring back fond memories.
When a cursory 4: In , a pound amplifier felt like a monster, but next to my reference Pass Xs monoblocks with a combined weight of almost a ton, literally , the AU is comparatively gentle on my back. Crazy as this seems, the purity of the dCS as a source truly reveals just how good the Sansui really is. Extended listening to this combo proves musically involving, and revisiting the music I was listening to in is particularly fun.
The combination just works, and while the vintage combo is a bit grungier and foggier than my reference system, the whole experience is welcome and highly palatable. Seriously, if I quit my job as a hi-fi reviewer tomorrow, I could easily live with this system. Of course, the AU has a pair of tone controls for bass and treble that can be switched out of the signal path for purists. The watt-per-channel Sansui amplifier is rated conservatively, and reviews from Stereo Review and Audio from when the AU was new indicate that it produced around watts into an 8-ohm load; more than enough to drive all but Magnepans to a major level.
Connected to a more modern speaker, like the Dali Rubicon 2s featured on page xx of this issue , the AU turns in a superb performance.

Note for the writer its a great article but i wouldn’t recommend soldering then crimping, solder is very soft and will become loose after a while your better off crimping stright on the copper. This project took me a couple of weeks of evenings after work and weekends. It moved into our Craftsman in Atlanta when we did back in and has filled the same role. As a kid, I thought this thing was all wood construction. By breaking it apart, I found that the panels are MDF-like, the doors are hollow plastic, and the wood grain is laminate. Since the speakers have never really worked reliably and the record player was broken, we pretty much stopped listening to the stereo and it was just taking up space.
After a few months, we decided to sell the console in a yard sale. The papers on the left are the original wiring diagrams that were stapled to the inside of the console. I like that kind of stuff. All of the electronics were very nicely integrated into these consoles. During the yard sale, while trying to convince people to buy the stereo, we convinced ourselves to restore the console ourselves.

In some ways, thick, high-end wire can present MORE of a problem than the conventional skinnier stuff. More on that later. For the purposes of discussion we will use the term “amp” short for amplifier to refer to any receiver, integrated amp or power amp.
Jan 10, · 1. is the only way to get a true left and right sound from the speakers is to hook them up to a 2 channel amplifier? im pretty sure you cant bridge the two speakers to one monoblock or bridge them to 2 channels each on a 4 channel amp, because it would be giving the speakers the same output, not left and right.
How to hook up a subwoofer to a stereo system Hint: You don’t necessarily need a receiver with subwoofer output jacks. Subs can provide a foundation to the sound that few speakers can muster on their own. So adding a sub is not just about adding more and deeper bass; rather, a properly integrated subwoofer can improve the overall sound of the system. AV receivers feature bass management to direct the low bass frequencies to the sub and the midrange and treble frequencies to the speakers.
The subwoofer is hooked up to the receiver with a single interconnect cable. Stereo receivers, pre-amps, and integrated amplifiers rarely have subwoofer output jacks or offer bass-management options. So instead of using those connections, we’ll use the subwoofer’s speaker-level, aka “high-level,” inputs. Most, but not all, subwoofers have these inputs; they get connected using speaker cables to the same speaker output jacks on your receiver or amplifier that are also hooked up to your speakers.
That means you have to double up the connections on the receiver or amplifier see photo below that illustrates that connection method. The top picture has just the speaker cables connected to the stereo amp; the bottom picture has the speaker and subwoofer cables connected. The sub will use its built-in crossover aka “low pass” filter to determine the upper limit of the frequencies produced by the subwoofer. With small speakers with 4-inch or smaller woofers, you’ll set the sub’s crossover frequency at Hz or higher, and with speakers with 5-inch or larger woofers, 80Hz or lower.
