Sewer Septic vs Sewer: Might Septic be Better? Conventional wisdom suggests that when faced with a choice between town sewer and a septic system, the answer is clear: But is the conventional wisdom right in this case? Is septic sometimes a cheaper, greener choice? A closer look at this question suggests that while the conventional wisdom is clear, it may not be right.
The Conventional Wisdom The advantages of town sewer are well-known: Town sewer requires no maintenance — once you flush, you’re done. Cheap By contrast, the downsides of a septic system are equally clear: Requires regular maintenance every other year Expensive Future home-buyers might balk While there is truth in both the advantages and disadvantages, there is misinformation as well. It is certainly true that septic systems require maintenance — but it may not be true that they are more expensive.
And septic has other advantages that this debate traditionally ignores — it may be “greener”, and when you don’t want to live in the center of town, it may be your only option. Sewer Has its Own Costs While most people are aware of the rather significant cost of replacing a broken septic system, few are aware that municipal sewer has its own costs.
The cost can increase quite a bit, too, if a pumping station must also be built.

Fuzzy-based methods applied in construction management field are reviewed. Abstract Fuzzy and hybrid methods have been increasingly used in construction risk management research and this study aims to compile and analyse the basic concepts and methods applied in this field to date. A content analysis is made of a comprehensive literature review of publications during — It is found that the nature of complex projects is such that most risks are interdependent of each other.
Therefore, a fuzzy structured method such as the fuzzy analytical network process FANP has frequently been used for different complex projects. January 22, Campskunk , How Tos 11 Comments First off, I don’t even HAVE a house, so this is for those of you who still have sticks and brick attachments, or are visiting folks who do. Houses have connections that come in handy for us RVers staying at a residence, and I’m not talking about the electricity and water.
I’m talking about sewer connections you can dump your waste water tanks into. City sewer connections have what’s called a clean-out, which is a large opening into the sewer line just as it leaves the house and heads toward the city sewer connection. It’s perfect for dumping your gray and black water tank contents if you don’t want to drive across town and give people money, which is usually what you have to do when dumping in a populated area.
The trick, however, is to find this clean-out, because few homeowners know where they are. In houses with connections to a municipal sewage treatment system, the sewer line comes out from under the house and usually makes a bee-line for the street where the sewer lines are. If you’re in the middle of the block this is easy — corner lots could go either way. Water meters are another utility usually on the side of the lot where the sewer hookup is, so that will help give you a clue to location.
Here it is — my sister’s septic clean-out, behind the rhododendron bush and among the shrimp plants. In the south, this is all white PVC pipe. Get a little shovel and gently poke around in the flowerbeds and other stuff along the base of the house’s foundation. The line is usually just below ground level, and is a 4 inch PVC pipe probably cast iron up north where the ground freezes — one of you Yankees help me out here.
It’s the only huge pipe coming out from underneath the house — supply lines are much smaller.
